  • Description of the Roll of Honour etc- The Scotsman - Friday 13 March 1925 - THE ROLL OF HONOUR The war memorial, which was organised by tho 4th Battalion Re-Union Club , takes the form of a handsome cabinet in dark Scottish oak, containing a magnificently designed roll of honour, which has been placed in the vestibule of Dingwall Town House, in the permanent custody of Dingwall Town Council. The roll of honour contains the names of all who served with the battalion overseas, the honours won, and the casualties sustained by officers and other ranks. The vellum pages of oblong folio demy are hand printed, and the book is bound in red pigskin , with the regimental crest and motto in silver, and sunk into the heavy front cover. A signed portrait of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, honorary Colonel-in-Chief of the Seaforth Highlanders, in field dress of the regiment forms the frontispiece. There is a holograph letter, written shortly before his death, by the late Lord Seaforth, honorary Colonel of the 4th Battalion, a foreward by the Right Hon. J. Ian Macpherson, M. P., Deputy Secretary of State for War (Great War), and a dedication by the Rev. John Macleod, C. F., Free Church, Glasgow, padre of the Battalion from 1915 till the end of the war. There was also unveiled yesterday the wooden cross originally erected in the field at Fontain Notre Dame, with such material as an army in the field could most readily obtain. The ceremonial yesterday was shared in by guards of ex-Servicemen of the 4th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders and by various ranks of their successors, the 4/5th Seaforth Highlanders.
