Description

Oak panel with inscription carved in relief. An angel blowing a trumpet is carved at top corners. The first line of the inscription is arched over a carving of St George on horseback crossing the sun.

HE SAW EVEN IN HIGH DAY THE MORNING STAR / TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN HAPPY MEMORY OF / CAPTAIN JOHN LANG O L / WHO JOINED THE ARMY 1914 / AT THE AGE OF 66 AND DIED ON / SERVICE 15TH APRIL 1917 / THIS MEMORIAL IS PLACED HERE BY / HIS FRENDS AT THE SCHOOL WHICH / HE LOVED WHOSE HIGH TRADITIONS / HE UPHELD AND WHOSE ANNALS HE / ENRICHED BY AN EXAMPLE OF SELF / SACRIFICE AND DEVOTION.
