Description
Large octagonal pillar set on a plinth and base with a flight of steps. There are plaques set on the 4 faces of the plinth with WW1 names (the first starts with the dedication), and a small wall at the rear of the memorial with a plaque with WW2. To the right of the memorial there is also a granite tablet with 1 additional name for each of WW1 and WW2, also 1 name for the Mau-Mau uprising, and 1 name for Northern Ireland.

  • (The Scotsman 24th December 1923) "Brechin War Memorial was unveiled yesterday in the public park by the Countess of Dalhousie. The memorial bears the name of 299 men of Brechin and the immediate district who fell in the Great War. Of these, 115 were in the local regiment the Black Watch. The ceremony was largely attended.
