2008: The letters on two of the stone tablets are worn and becoming hard to read. Playing field is at risk of being sold. 1977: strip of land sold to Knowles Transport Ltd c. 1956: Children's recreation area and built August 1955: Playing field first used 1953: Playing field purchased

Comments: Memorial playing field cost £520 plus £19 for various costs of the purchase. £200 was donated by the National Playing Fields Association and spent on a children's recreation area. The Royal British Legion provided £162 for the gates. A further £560 was spent on general improvements to the field.

Details: Wimblington residents raised funds to purchase the field after Second World War. Over £500 was raised for the purchase of the field which was purchased in 1953. £200 was also donated by the National Playing Fields Association in 1956 which was used primarily for the provision of the Children's recreational area. The Wimblington branch of the British Legion gave £162 for the purchase of the gates.
