Description
Two swords are buried within church. One is that of John Shenton, Captain of Cavalry in the Royalist Army, who fought at Naseby and is buried at Barwell. The second belonged to Capt Austin Shenton, Royal Engineers, who fought in Flanders and was killed in the last months of the Great War. He is buried at Amiens, and was a descendant of John Shenton. Both names known to be inscribed on undescribed monument, Capt A Shenton's Military Cross is attached to monument.
