- Description
- Wooden board contained within an ornate, wooden frame. The frame features 4 heraldic shields - the one middle right being the Royal Standard - and religious imagery: its two sides are topped by gilt spikes. The lettering on the central board is also in gilt and it is bordered by a Latin phrase/motto. Capt A K Shenton's Military Cross is said to be attached to memorial (but it is unclear from the image where) and two swords are said to be buried within church, one belonging to John Shenton, Captain of Cavalry in the Royalist Army, and the other to Austin Shenton, his descendent, of the Royal Engineers and who was killed in the last months of WW1.
