- The memorial is in the form of a 'Mercat Cross'. It is octagonal dressed stone block on three octagonal shallow steps.The block has castellated detail with carved faces in medieval style.Above is an octagonal pole surmaounted by a carved stone lion rampart holding a shield carved with a saltire in its forepaws.
