- Description
- Rectangular tablet with carved inscription in black Roman lettering, some of which is in italics. It is flanked by two columns sheathed in palm leaves and it rests on a shelf supported by two brackets. On top is a small pediment with a military insignia (a grenade) in the middle and with a semi-circular floral disc at either end. The whole is backed by a black marble slab.

- WITHIN THE CLOISTER OF THIS CATHEDRAL/ ARE DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF/ HENRY BOSWELL BENNETT,/ LIEUTENANT IN THE 45TH REGIMENT./ "WHO FELL IN THE STRICT AND MANLY DISCHARGE OF HIS DUTY,"/ IN BOSENDEN WOOD, IN THE VILLE OF DUNKIRK;/ ON THE 31ST MAY 1838,/ AGED 29 YEARS./ AS A LASTING MARK OF SINCERE REGRET/ FOR THE MELANCHOLY LOSS/ OF AN AMIABLE AND ESTEEMED COMPANION;/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS.
