History
In 1925 the WW1 tablet was erected at the Baillie Institute. The WW2 tablet was reputedly also installed on that building. When the Baillie Institute was scheduled for demolition in the 1990s, the original memorial tablets were removed, and incorporated into a modified memorial that included the sword-hilt designed by Bill Millan, and was placed in East Main Street. (It has not been established when the inscriptions were added to the WW2 tablet re the later casualties at Aden, Osnabruck and Chelsea).
