Description
Framed and glazed card with inset photographs with hand written captions. The border has a blue background and is decorated with vines, roses and small images as follows: upper left corner: biplane; upper right corner: warship; lower left corner: field gun; lower right corner: tank and lower centre: Bolton Town Hall. A figure of a sailor stands in the left border and a figure of a soldier stands in the right border, both facing inwards. At top centre is the Bolton council coat of arms flanked by scrolls. Below this is another scroll bearing the dedication within a laurel wreath flanked by the photos of the two casualties. Behind the scroll are arranged the flags of Britain, Russia, Italy, Belgium, America and France. Below this the photos of the remaining ten service men are arranged in three rows. The frame is a stepped moulding of dark wood with a gold-coloured strip surrounding the glazing.

2009: War Memorials Trust funded replacement of original glazing with UV-resistant laminated safety glass. Memorial placed on public display in Bolton Town Hall. 2004: Donated to Bolton Museum by United Utilities, placed in storage. 2003: Loaned to Bolton Museum by United Utilities (formerly North-West Water, formerly Bolton Corporation Sewage Department). Pre-2003: Displayed at a water works at Ringley Fold, Bolton.
