BRONZE SHRINE WITH BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE ORNATE SHRINE WITH PEDIMENTED TOP WHICH HAS AT ITS APEX THE TOWN COAT OF ARMS ABOVE A LAUREL WREATH CONTAINING A CROWN. A WHITE ENSIGN AND UNION FLAG FLANK THESE. BENEATH THIS IS THE WW1 INSCRIPTION. IN MAIN PART OF SHRINE, BEHIND GLASS DOOR, ARE THE BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE TOPPED BY FLANDERS POPPIES. WW2 INSCRIPTION IS BENEATH THE BOOKS AT BOTTOM OF SHRINE. THERE IS A LIGHT ON WITHIN THE SHRINE.

BOTTOM: IN HONOURED MEMORY/ OF THE MEN AND WOMEN/ OF THE COUNTY BOROUGH OF BOURNEMOUTH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE 1939-1945 WAR. BOOK: COUNTY BOROUGH OF BOURNEMOUTH/ WAR MEMORIAL/ BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE/ TOP THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN AND WOMEN/ OF THE COUNTY BOROUGH OF BOURNEMOUTH/ WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE/ GREAT WAR, 1914-1918, AND THE SECOND/ WORLD WAR, 1939-1945/ COPY OF THE ENTRIES IN THE BOOKS OF/ REMEMBRANCE CONTAINED IN THE SHRINE/ ERECTED IN THE TOWN HALL IN CONNECTION/ WITH THE SAID MEMORIAL.
