- Sheffield Daily Telegraph 17/5/1912 (pages 8 and 10), reported the consecration the previous day by the Archbishop of York of the "new mission church of the model village, which had come into being through the opening of the Maltby Main Colliery", announcing that its title was to be the Church of Ascension.
