- TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ CAPTAIN THOMAS JOHN CATCHPOLE/ OF THE 5TH BATTN SUFFOLK REGIMENT/ THE 2ND LOVED SON OF/ ARTHUR AND CATHERINE CATCHPOLE/ OF THIS PARISH/ WHO DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED IN ACTION/ ON NOV 3RD 1917, AGED 29 YEARS. HE WAS BURIED/ IN THE MILITARY CEMETERY AT DEIR-EL-BELAH, EGYPT/ AND IN THE MORN THOSE ANGEL FACES SMILE/ WHICH I HAVE LOVED LONG SINCE AND LOST A WHILE/ "THROUGH LIFE SO GOOD AND BRAVE, GOD GIVE OUR/ LOVED ONE HEAVENLY REST IN HIS FAR OFF LONELY GRAVE"
