- (LINE BREAKS UNKNOWN)THE CHERUBS HANDS THIS RELIC WAS GIVEN TO CANON HUDSON (THEN VICAR OF ST THOMAS ON THE BOURNE) IN THE 1950S BY GENERAL LYON WHO THEN LIVED IN GREAT AUSTINS./ DURING THE 1914-1918 WAR, GENERAL LYON WAS COMMANDING BULLETS NEAR YPRES. WHEN THE CATHEDRAL WAS BOMBED, HE PICKED UP THIS FRAGMENT. HE FOUND THE ATTITUDE OF THE CHERUBS HANDS IN PRAYER HIGHLY SYMBOLIC AND IN AWFUL CONTRAST TO THE DESTRUCTION AND SLAUGHTER THAT HE WITNESSED ALL AROUND HIM. THE CHERUBS HANDS REMAINED ON HIS DESK UNTIL GIVEN TO THE CHURCH
