Description
RECTANGULAR MARBLE TABLET WITH MOULDED BORDER. INSCRIPTION IN BLACK LETTERING. MOSIAC BORDER AROUND THE INSCRIPTION FORMED OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SYMMETRICAL PATTERNS IN DIFFERENT COLOURS.

IN MEMORY OF A SOLDIER A GENTLEMAN AND A CHRISTIAN/ GENERAL SIR HENRY DALRYMPLE WHITE, K.C.B./ COLONEL 6TN INNISKILLING DRAGOONS/ BORN JULY 5TH 1820, HE ENTERED THAT REGIMENT IN 1838 COMMANDED IT (AS LIEUT COLONEL)/ WITH DISTINGUISHED GALLANTRY IN THE HEAVY CAVALRY CHARGE OF BALACLAVA, AND/ THROUGHOUT THE CRIMEAN WAR, AND REGARDED IT WITH LIFELONG PRIDE AND AFFECTION/ HE WAS ASSISTANT ADJUTANT GENERAL OF CAVALRY 1863-1865 AND COMMANDED THE/ CAVALRY BRIGADE AT THE CURRAGH AND AT ALDERSHOT 1866 - 1871. HIS MILITARY CAREER/ WAS CUT SHORT BY THE AFFLICTION OF LONG ILLNESS BORNE TO THE END WITH STEADFAST/ PATIENCE. HE RESIGNED HIS ACTIVE AND ARDENT SPIRIT INTO GODS HANDS MARCH 27TH. 1886/ THANKFUL UNTO HIM FOR A GLAD AND HAPPY PAST AND FOR HIS PROMISE OF A HAPPIER FUTURE./ "IN THE WORLD YE SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER. I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD."
