- IN MEMORY OF/ LIEUT GENERAL RICHARD BUCKLEY PRETTEJOHN CB/ WHO DIED JANY 4TH 1891 WHEN FULL COLONEL OF THE 13TH HUSSARS/ HE SERVED WITH THE 14TH LIGHT DRAGOONS IN THE SOUTHERN MAHRATTA COUNTRY IN 1844-45/ ALSO THROUGHOUT THE PUNJAB CAMPAIGN OF 1848-49 INCLUDING THE ACTION OF RAMMIGGAR WITH/ THE CHARGING SQUADRONS PASSAGE OF CHENAB. BATTLE OF CHILLIAN WALLAH AND GOOJERAT/ PURSUIT OF THE ENEMY ACROSS THE JHELUM AND OF THE AFGHANS OVER THE INDUS THROUGH THE KHYBER/ PASS (MEDAL WITH 2 CLASPS) SERVED WITH THE PERSIAN EXPEDITION OF 1857 (MEDAL WITH CLASP)/ ALSO WITH THE CENTRAL INDIA FIELD FORCE UNDER SIR HUGH ROSE IN 1857-58 AND WAS PRESENT AT/ MANY ACTIONS, SIEGES AND VICTORIES ALWAYS WITH THE 14TH LT DRAGOONS AND WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED/ FOUR TIMES.
