DURSLEY/ WAR MEMORIAL RECREATION GROUND/ THIS RECREATION GROUND WAS PROVIDED BY THE/ DURSLEY PARISH COUNCIL, FROM FUNDS RAISED BY/ VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTION, AS A LASTING MEMORIAL/ TO THE MEN OF DURSLEY WHO LAID DOWN THEIR/ LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND FOR THE COURSE OF/ FREEDOM IN THE WORLD WAR OF 1939-1945,/ AND THOSE NAMES ARE INSCRIBED BELOW./ (NAMES)/ THE FIELD WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED BY/ SIR PERCY LISTER, OF DURSLEY, AS THE DURSLEY/ WAR MEMORIAL RECREATION GROUND, ON SATURDAY/ THE 30TH JUNE, IN THE FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN YEAR/ OF 1951, WHICH FESTIVAL IT ALSO PERMANENTLY MARKS.
