- Description
- Square plinth formed of Purbeck Stone blocks with a sloping top to which is fixed an incised and coloured, polished granite tablet giving the history of R.A.F. Ibsley and a map of airfield. It rests on the wartime concrete base of the Airfield's old Guardroom/Picket Post. Small metal plaque fixed on a sloping stone at foot of front face of plinth with white lettering. Whole memorial surrounded by metal railings.

FIGHTER SQUADRONS STATIONED AT IBSLEY/ PLAN OF AIRFIELD/ LEFT-HAND SIDE - LIST OF RAF AND USAAF SQUADRONS BASED AT IBSLEY 1941-1945 (SEE PHOTOGRAPH IN FILE) AT FOOT OF PLAQUE - FLYING ACTIVITIES CEASED AT IBSLEY IN 1946, AFTER WHICH THE NO 2 COMMUNAL SITE, R.A.F.
