- WE THE PEOPLE OF UNDERRIVER HAVE SET UP THIS CLOCK/ IN MEMORY OF/ (Names)/ WHO FELL IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR/ ALSO IN THANKSGIVING TO GOD FOR THE SAFE RETURN/ OF THOSE OTHERS WHO SERVED IN HIS MAJESTY'S FORCES/ AND FOR THE PRESERVATION OF US ALL DURING THE VARIOUS/ FORMS OF AERIAL BOMBARDMENT THROUGHOUT THE WAR./ 2 ENEMY AIRCRAFT, 37 HE BOMBS, 12 OIL BOMBS, 9 FLYING BOMBS, 1 LAND MINE/ AND MANY HUNDREDS OF INCENDIARY BOMBS ALL IN/ OUR PARISH BUT NO ONE WAS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED.
