Description
Embroidered linen bedspread in glass case attached to the wall, c.2362 mm high and c.1753 mm wide. It is comprised of 35 individual squares joined together in seven rows of five by hand-worked crochet. Each square apart from the central square bears the name of the wounded soldier who worked it and their regiment: these squares have the same floral pattern but different colours. The central square bears the embroidered text 'For King and Country 1914-1918. There is a small card attached to the bedspread explaining its origin. On the wall by the bedspread is a stainless steel plaque mounted on a wooden block which also explains the origin of the bedspread.
