White marble tablet on black stone mount. Tablet is pitched at top with shallow shelf and brackets at base. Black incised lettering. RAF badge at top centre, within tablet pediment. Decorative, incised design at side borders.

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ F/SGT. JOHN ARTHUR GIBBS/ NO. 578 SQUADRON/ WHO WAS FORCED DOWN IN ENEMY/ TERRITORY/ AND WHILST A PRISONER WAS KILLED/ DURING THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945/ AND INTERRED AT GRESSE, GERMANY, ON/ 19TH APRIL 1945, IN HIS 24TH YEAR./ "HE KEPT FAITH WITH HIS BRETHREN."/ ERECTED BY HIS FATHER.
