Description
Wall-mounted brass plaque with stone surround. Incised black and red lettering. On either side of lettering low relief of soldiers, side facing, in South African War-Era dress, with arms reversed and heads bowed. Emblem and motto of Prince of Wales at top centre. Oak leaves and acorns in relief at top and side borders.

WILLIAM JOHN EVANS/ 1ST WELSH REGIMENT/ BOTH OF THIS BOROUGH/ WHO DIED WHILE ON ACTIVE SERVICE/ SOUTH AFRICA, 1900./ THIS TABLET WAS ERECTED BY/ THE INHABITANTS OF LOUGHOR,/ AS A MARK OF APPRECIATION OF THEIR SERVICES/ RENDERED TO THEIR COUNTRY/ 1904/ "AND THERE WAS NO MORE WAR"
