- Description
- Memorial is made up of three separate tablets. Central stone tablet contains the dedicatory inscription placed within two columns which support a triangular pediment and names on the flanking panels. Outer tablet are opus sectile mosaics with a figure depicted in each one set within a marble frame. Medallion of St. George and the Dragon is depicted above the dedicatory inscription on the middle tablet. Figures in the left and right hand tablets are of Angels. The church was built as St. Thomas' Church of England Church in 1882, it was bought by St. Nicholas Trust in 1965 and converted to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
