Description
White marble sarcophagus shaped tablet mounted onto a seven sided black marble backboard. Incised inscription in black lettering. Between two acrotoria is a funerary urn flanked by a weeping willow and a weeping cherub depicted on top of the white marble tablet.

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ LIEUT. GEORGE FARWELL,/ OF HIS MAJESTY'S 46TH REGIMENT./ SECOND SON OF CHRISTOPHER FARWELL, OF THIS PARISH, ESQUIRE;/ WHO DIED AT SECUNDERABAD IN THE EAST INDIES/ ON THE 6TH DAY OF MAY 1830, IN THE 25TH YEAR OF HIS AGE./ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY LIEUT. COLONEL OGILVIE, AND/ THE OFFICERS OF HIS MAJESTY'S 46TH REGIMENT,/ WHO SERVED WITH HIM IN INDIA,/ AS A TRIBUTE/ OF THEIR AFFECTIONATE REGARD FOR HIS MEMORY,/ AND THE HIGH SENSE THEY ENTERTAINED OF/ HIS CHARACTER AS AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN,/ AND AS A TESTIMONY OF THE DEEP REGRET/ AT THE LOSS SUSTAINED BY THEMSELVES/ AND BY THE COUNTRY, IN THE EARLY DEATH OF/ THIS MOST PROMISING YOUNG OFFICER.
