Description
WHITE ALABASTER PLAQUE MOUNTED ON BLACK MARBLE WHICH HAS A PEAKED TOP TO ACCOMODATE DECORATIVE TOP TO MAIN PLAQUE.. THE MAIN PLAQUE IS SET ON TWO BRACKETS. THE BACKBOARD IS ON TWO WHITE MARBLE BRACKETS. THE WHITE MARBLE PLAQUE HAS BORDERS IN THE FORM OF CORINTHIAN HALF COLUMNS.THE TOP CORNICE (WHICH INCORPORATES THE DATES 1914 1918) IS CARVED OAK LEAVES AND ACORNS. THE BOTTOM CORNICE IS AN EGG AND LOTUS DESIGN. INSCRIPTION BLACK INCISED ROMAN LETTERING. QUOTATION IN ITALIC LETTERING. THE MAIN WHITE MARBLE PLAQUE IS SURMOUNTED BY A CARVED THREE DIMENSIONAL DESIGN OF RIFLES WITH FIXED BAYONETS AND FLAGS WITH A FIRST WORLD WAR HELMET AT THE BASE. THE WHOLE SURMOUNTED BY A CROWN AND CROSS
