- Description
- An oak-framed and glazed illuminated Roll of Honour, with an inner oak frame cut out around the outer border. The border of the design is delineated with gold circles. The border carries an image of the Parish Church in the upper centre, with its four successor Diocesan Cathedrals - of York Minister, Lichfield, Chester and Liverpool - depicted in the four corners, with their respective coat of arms. At the bottom is depicted the Wigan Borough Coat of Arms, flanked by lions. Between the images are elaborate designs featuring flowers, fruit, and tendrils, some emerging from golden vessels, including chalices. There are birds perching amongst the vegetation - and cherubs blowing trumpets. The names are in gold, in Gothic script, with the unit, and some ranks, given beside each name. The artist's details are in a panel at the bottom.
