RECTANGULAR BRONZE PLAQUE WITH CORNICE. INSCRIPTION IN RELIEF IN GOLD PAINTED LETTERING. HEAD AND SHOULDERS BAS RELIEF CARVING OF Lieutenant SALVESEN IS DEPICTED IN THE CENTRE OF THE PLAQUE. JUST ABOVE THE DEDICATORY INSCRIPTION IS A PATTE ON THE LEFT AND A BLUE AND WHITE SALTIRE CROSS ON THE RIGHT

"HE SAW A NATION IN HER NEED;/ HE HEARD THE CAUSE OF HONOUR PLEAD;/ HE HEARD THE CALL HE GAVE IT HEED."/ IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF/ EDWARD MAXWELL SALVESEN, B.A. (OXON)/ BORN 30TH AUGUST 1891, 2ND SON OF LORD SALVESEN, EDINR./ HE ENLISTED AS A PRIVATE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE/ WAR, RECEIVED A COMMISSION AS 2ND LIEUTENANT OF THE/ 2ND ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS AND FELL NEAR ST JULIEN,/ FRANCE ON 25TH APRIL, 1915, IN AN ATTACK IN WHICH 26/ OFFICERS OF HIS REGIMENT WERE KILLED OR WOUNDED.
