(picture) Cavers and Kirkton District War Memorial, erected at Deanbrae, was unveiled on Sunday afternoon. The memorial, which is in the form of a Celtic Cross, is formed of Kemnay granite, and was executed by Mr Arthur Taylor, Aberdeen, and erected by Messrs Adam Scott & Son. It bean the following inscription and the names of the fallen :— "1914-1919. In honoured and perpetual remembrance of the men of Cavers and Kirkton, who felt in the great war. S.M. Thomas Riddle, R.F.A. ; L.-C. William Armstrong, 7th S.H.; L.-C James Ballantyne, 10th S.R ; L C Thomas Blackie. 7/8 K.O.S.B.; Pte. Robert Fleming. 4th K.O.S.B.; Pte. George Lander, 2nd S.R ; Frank M“Tavish, 2nd S.R.; Pte. Peter Pringle. R.G.A. ; Thomas Sibbald, R.G.A. Their name liveth for evermore." There was a large number present at the ceremony. After praise and prayer, suitable scripture readings were given by Rev. John Stuart, Kirkton; and Archibald Palmer Douglas, yr. Cavers, unveiled the memorial, with few appropriate words. …………..
