- THE CLOCK AND TENOR BELL/HAVE BEEN PLACED IN THE TOWER OF THIS CHURCH BY/THE INHABITANTS OF THE PARISH OF FINSTHWAITE IN/GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE WHO FROM THE/PARISH LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ [names]/ THE SECOND BELL HAS BEEN PLACED IN THIS TOWER BY CLEMENT EDWARD/HOYLAND OF STOTT PARK AND LOUISA EDDIE HIS WIFE IN MEMORY OF THEIR SON/JOHN FRASER HOYLAND CAPT 4TH BATT LANCS FUSILIERS WHO WAS KILLED IN/ACTION AT MOUQUET FARM THIEPVAL FRANCE SEPT 26TH 1916/�THE LORD GAVE AND THE LORD HATH TAKEN AWAY.
