- Large nowy-headed brass plaque. The Durham County Constabulary crest is at top centre, beneath which is the incised inscription. (The 29 casualties on this plaque are also commemorated on the board in the Memorial Garden at HQ - see our reference 91503).

- Hartlepool Norther Daily Mail 19/4/1947 (page 1) reported that, on that day, Mr J. Chuter Ede (Home Secretary) had opened the new Durham County Constabulary HQ at Aycliffe. During his visit, he had unveiled the Constabulary's WW2 memorial, which was dedicated by the Bishop of Durham.
