- ENORMOUS TIUMPHAL ARCH. BROAD PIERS AT THE THE ABUTMENTS BEAR THE NAME TABLETS. TABLET ON INNER FACE LISTS ROYAL ENGINEER UNITS WHICH SERVED IN SOUTH AFRICA. SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS OF DECORATION. FRIEZE RUNNING AROUND THE BASE GIVES THE NAMES OF SIXTEEN ACTIONS FOR WHICH CLASPS WERE AWARDED. SPANDRELS CONTAIN REPRESENTATIONS OF THE MEDALS.
