TO THE DEAR MEMORY OF/ OSMOND MOWATT/ LIEUTENANT 10TH ROYAL HUSSARS/ WHO DIED AT DUISANS CASUALTY CLEARING STATION APRIL 22ND 1917/ OF WOUNDS RECEIVED IN THECAVALRY CHARGE NEAR MONCHY LE/ PREUX ARRAS ON APRIL 11TH BURIED IN DUISANS MILITARY CEMETERY/ EH RECEIVED THE 1914 STAR AND BAR/ BORN MAY 24TH 1880 HE WAS THE YOUNGER AND SURVIVING CHILD OF/ JAMES AND FANNY LOUISA MOWATT OF KINGSWOOD FIRS/ WHILE YET AN UNDERGRADUATE AT GONVILLE AND CAIUS COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE/ HE VOLUNTEERED FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR AND AS A LIEUTENANT/ IMPERIAL YEOMANRY SAW MUCH SERVICE AND WAS TWICE WOUNDED./ HE RECEIVED THE QUEEN'S MEDAL 3 CLASPS. THE KING'S MEDAL 2 CLASPS/ AND RETIRED WITH THE RANK OF HON. LIEUTENANT IN THE ARMY ETC ETC/ RETURNING TO CAMBRIDGE HE GRADUATED B.A. WITH SCIENCE HONOURS 1904. M.A 1907/ A JOYOUS SPIRIT, - BRAVE, LOYAL TRUE
