- Description
- Broad three stepped hexagonal base, surmounted by smaller two stepped hexagonal base, plinth, shaft and winged figure of St Michael slaying a dragon. Inscription in relief lettering on lower plinth. The upper plinth bears names for WW1. These are separated by three carved reliefs of service personnel, with badges above. The reliefs depict: (1) soldier in greatcoat and steel helmet standing at ease holding rifle with a shield with cross of St George above. (2) a seaman in sou'wester and boots holding a rope with a shield above with early sailing ship, derived from merchant navy badge. (3) Royal Naval seaman.

- Summer 2018- Cleaning underway, and paths around the memorial to be replaced, funded by £20,000 of public donatiopns, organised by Friends of Millom War Memorial.

Comments: Donations included £50 from the Hodbarrow Mining Company and £100 from the Millom and Askham Haematite Mining Company. When tendered there were 54 names to inscribe, the final total of 211 added £29 to the cost.
