Description
Separate Portland stone marker in the form of a low scroll with leaded inscription, installed at the foot of the family grave, and having a hollowed out Latin cross to its rear. The subject is also commemorated at Marlborough College (WMR 24135).

In undying remembrance of his only son,/ Charles Humphrey Bayley,/ Captain South Lancashire Regiment,/ whose body lies in France where he died/ for King and Country August 7th 1917./ "Beyond the river of death love lives/ as yesterday - so for ever"
