Description
Rectangular polished brass plaque attached to a wall mounted streaked marble backboard with moulded edge. Engraved inscription infilled with black paint, capital letters in red paint. Coloured family crest at upper left corner of plaque, campaign medal with bars depicted in upper right corner. Dual-lined border enclosing a floral design, surrounds inscription. Red cross at corners.

In loving memory / of / Edward Henry Slade Cooper/ Trumpeter 7955, 40th Cy 10th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry/ the beloved son of the late Colonel Richard Augustus & Cicely Florence Cooper/ Born at Thornby Hall SEPT 30th 1872. / Leaving his Profession of Civil Engineer at the Call of his Country / He volunteered for active Service in South Africa Decr 1899. / He took part with the Imperial Yeomanry under Lord Methuen / in all actions fought in the Orange River and Transvaal Colonies / from March to October 1900, and was severely wounded at Rustenburg / October 11th 1900. He died of enteric fever at Lichtenburg, South Africa / January 2nd 1901, Aged 28./ At Home With The Lord. 2ND COR. V.8.
