Description

Wall mounted plaque, made of light grey stone and shield shaped, basically an oblong with the bottom edge dropping towards a point. Lettering on white marble.

FOR/ QUEEN AND COUNTRY./ IN MEMORY OF/ LABAN JAMES BLADES,/ 3RD BT GRENADIER GUARDS,/ WHO DIED AT SUAKIM MAY 22ND 1885,/ AGED 23./ BELOVED BY ALL HIS COMRADES/ AND PARTICULARLY BY LT A.P. CRAWLEY,/ BY WHOM THIS STONE IS ERECTED.
