Marble tablet shaped as a scroll surrounded by a lancet wood frame with a marble eagle on top.

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF STEPHEN CARR ESQ/ 87TH ROYAL IRISH FUSILIERS/ WHO/ FOR 44 YEARS SHARED IN THE GLORIES OF THE REGIMENT/ AT TALAVERA, TARIFA AND AT BARROSA/ THROUGHOUT THE CAMPAIGNS OF THE ILLUSTRIOUS WELLINGTON/ IN SPAIN PORTUGAL AND FRANCE SUBSEQUENTLY IN THE EAST INDIES/ AND BURMAH AND DIED AT THE AGE OF 62 YEARS AT NEWPORT/ MONMOUTHSHIRE 22ND MAY 1847/ BELOVED AND ESTEEMED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM IN THE HUMBLE HOPE/ "THAT ZEALOUS AND EVER READY IN ALL HIS DUTIES WHILE ON EARTH/ HE WILL BE FOUND NOT UNPREPARED FOR THE LAST DREAD TRUMPET/ THROUGH THE MERITS OF A MERCIFUL REDEEMER"/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED TO HIS MEMORY BY HIS AFFECTIONATE AND/ BEREAVED WIDOW JANE CARR WHO IS LEFT TO DEPLORE HIS LOSS/ HIS MORTAL REMAINS INTERRED IN STOW CHURCH YARD
