IN MEMORY OF JOHN WYRHTTE THOMPSON LIEUT COLONEL IN HER MAJESTYS ARMY/ YOUNGEST SON OF GENERAL THOMAS PERRONET THOMPSON/ BORN IN YORK DIED AT NAIRN N.B. 1ST NOVEMBER 1895/ HE SERVED WITH THE 3RD DRAGOON GUARDS. 10TH HUSSARS AND 7TH DRAGOONS/ AT HOME AND ABROAD./ ADHOMC OF THE 2ND DIVISION. HE SERVED THROUGHOUT THE CRIMEAN WAR/ BEING PRESENT AT THE BATTLES OF ALMA WHERE HE WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED AND OF/ INKERMAN, THE ATTACK ON THE REDAN AND THE SIEGE AND FALL OF SEBASTAPOL./ HE WAS FOUR TIMES MENTIONED TO GENERAL ORDERS RECEIVED THE DRUET RANK OF/ MAJOR FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE FIELD AND WAS AWARDED THE 5TH CLASS OF THE MEDRIDIE THE TURKISH AND SARDIMAR MEDADLS/ THIS BRASS WAS ERECTED BY HIS SISTER ANNE ELISE THOMPSON 1898.
