- A white marble tablet on a black marble backboard. There is a raised carved lion at the top, below which are the words 'The King's Own' . Incised inscription infilled with black paint.

- IN MEMORY OF / JAMES CHORLTON SELBY / SERGEANT SIGNALLER / 9TH BATT. KINGS OWN ROYAL LANCS. REGT. / THE YOUNGER SON OF / WILLIAM & MARY SELBY / BORN DEC. 21ST 1893. VOLUNTEERED FOR SERVICE / IN THE GREAT WAR ON SEPT. 4TH 1914, / AND WAS REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION / IN BULGARIA, SEPT. 19TH 1918. / HE WAS A MEMBER OF THIS CHURCH, HAVING BEEN / CONNECTED WITH IT FROM HIS CHILDHOOD, / AND WAS ALSO AN EARNEST AND FAITHFUL / WORKER IN THE ADJOINING SCHOOL. / HIS DISPOSITION AND CHARACTER / EARNED FOR HIM THE LOVE AND ESTEEM / OF ALL THE COMPANIONS OF BOTH HIS / CIVILIAN AND HIS MILITARY LIFE. / "TRUE TO HIS COUNTRY, HIS CONSCIENCE, / AND HIS GOD."
