Description
Elaborate Eleanor style cross in two stages, surmounting an hexagonal plinth and two stepped base, surrounded by railings. The upper portion is surmounted by a cross, and the lower hexagonal portion has a recess on each side containing a figure of one of the Four Virtues , Victory and an Angel. Each side of the plinth is detailed with blind tracery, and mounting stone tablets with the inscriptions.

Details: It was originally intended that subscriptions should be limited to residents of the town, but an an application from several neighboring villages to be allowed to come within the scheme was acceded to and eventually over £900 was raised.
