- RECTANGULAR BRASS PLAQUE WITH ADDITIONAL PLAQUE PLACED ABOVE IT WITH INCISED DESIGN ON IT. BATTLE HONOURS FORM BORDER ON THE PLAQUE. UPPER PLAQUE DEPICTS A BADGE FLANKED BY TWO SOLDIERS AND AN URN ABOVE IT

- ICH DIEN MARTIS ARTE ET/ SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ LIEUT. GENERAL SIR HARRY DAVID JONES G.C.B./ THIS BRAVE OFFICER WHO ENTERED THE CORPS OF ROYAL ENGINEERS IN 1808 SERVED WITH GREAT DISTINCTION DURING THE WAR WITH FRANCE WITH THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON IN THE YEARS 1809-10-11-12-13 AND 14 AND TOOK PART IN THE FOLLOWING SIEGES AND BATTLES. THE DEFENCE OF CADIZ AND ISLAND OF VITTORA WHEN HE WAS RECOMMENDED FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT BY GENERAL OSWALD COMMANDING THE 5TH DIVISION. THE SIEGE OF ST. SEBASTIAN WHERE AS RECORDED IN THE ADJOINING TABLET LED A STORMING PARTY AND WAS LEFT WOUNDED WITHIN THE BREACH WHERE ALL HIS PARTY WAS KILLED. THE BATTLE OF NIVELLE AND IN THE OPERATIONS BEFORE BOYONNE WITH THE 5TH DIVISION. THE PASSAGE OF THE BIDASOA AND NIVE UNDER SIR THOMAS GRAHAM WHEN HE WAS AGAIN RECOMMENDED FOR PROMOTION BY GENERAL HAY COMMANDING THE 1ST DIVISION FOR DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT AND RECEIVED THE THANKS OF THE MASTER GENERAL OF THE ORDNANCE WHICH WERE PUBLICLY CONVEYED TO HIM BY CIRCULAR TO HIS CORPS. HE ALSO SERVED AT NEW ORLEANS DURING THE AMERICAN WAR. THE CAPTURE OF PARIS BY THE ALLIED ARMIES IN 1815 UNDER GENERAL ZIETER IN 1846. DURING THE PEACE HE OCCUPIED MANY CIVIL AND MILITARY POSITIONS OF IMPORTANCE AT HOME AND ABROAD AMONGST WHICH WAS THAT CONNECTED WITH THE RELIEF OF THE POOR IN IRELAND IN 1846. DURING THE RUSSIAN WAR HE COMMANDED IN 1854 AS BRIGADIER GENERAL THE BRITISH TROOPS AT THE SIEGE AND CAPTURE OF THE FORTRESS BOMARSUND IN THE BALTIC AND IN 1855 WAS APPOINTED TO THE COMMAND OF THE ROYAL ENGINEERS AT THE SIEGE OF SEBASTOPOL DURING WHICH HE WAS CREATED A KNIGHT COMMANDER OF THE BATH.
