EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT/ BORN JANUARY 8TH 1872/ KILLED IN ACTION AT SARAN-SAR ON/ THE NIGHT OF THE 6TH NOVEMBER 1897/ WHILST ATTACHED TO THE/ 1ST DORSET REGIMENT FOR DUTY WITH/ THE TIRAH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE./ A WEEK BEFORE THIS ACTION HE GALLANTLY/ SAVED A WOUNDED SOLDIER'S LIFE CONVEYING/ HIM WHILST UNDER FIRE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS
