- History
- The Soke of Peterborough Boy Scout Association initially cared for the WW2 memorial. After leaving their premises in Trinity Street, that memorial was cared for by the St. Paul's Scout Group in their headquarters in Lincoln Road. From1984 the WW2 memorial was stored at Newborough, in the care of Mr. Ron Ward. (The memorial was loaned to Peterborough Museum in 2007, for an exhibition re 100 years of the Scouts' Association). In 2016 a suitable venue was arranged for the WW2 memorial to be placed back on public display, i.e. Peterborough Town Hall. As no trace could be found of any surviving WW1 memorial, an associated board was made, to commemorate the known former local Scout who had died in that conflict. The two boards were jointly installed on the wall of the Town Hall's landing, where they were dedicated/re-dedicated on 3/12/2016.

- Peterborough Standard dated 30/11/1951: Report of the unveiling of the memorial at Trinity Street. A dual ceremony was held on 28th November 1951, at which the memorial was unveiled and dedicated twice. This was in light of the fact that three of the casualties it commemorated had been Catholic. The Bishop of Peterborough therefore performed the dedication in respect of Church of England casualties; Canon W.G. Wainwright performed the same duty in respect of the Catholic casualties. The main memorial board was made by Messrs Braybrooke Brothers; the Scouts' badge surmounted by a cross was carved by one of the Masters at The King's School in Peterborough.
