Description
A Cornish Granite wheel cross, with tapering shaft, standing on a rough stone pedestal and a two step, square base, the whole set in a memorial garden. The front face of the shaft of the cross is decorated with sword in half relief. At the base of the shaft is a bronze plaque bearing the names from 1939-45 in a single column: the names from 1914-18 are on a plaque on the front face of the pedestal, listed in two columns divided by a vertical line. The names are in raised sans serif capitals. On the riser of the step below is a third plaque bearing the commemoration. The garden contains two ornate benches, one for each conflict. Behind the memorial garden is a Nurse's house, two storeyed, brick built (pebble dashed as of 2016), with two bays with central door. Above the door is inscribed "Stocksfield War Memorial". The house has a sitting room, storeroom for medicines, bandages, etc., kitchen, domestic offices, three bedrooms and a bathroom. The building is surrounded by about a quarter of an acre of ground.

History
In 2008 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £725 towards replacement of the bronze plaque inscribed with the names of the fallen of World War I. The original plaque had been stolen on 7 March 2008; the theft had been investigated by the police, but the case closed. An exact replica was produced and fitted to the memorial and was rededicated on Remembrance Sunday 2008
