History
2009: The memorial has been restored after the Newbiggin British Legion raised the funds to do this work. A remembrance ceremony takes place each year, on which day the building is open to the public. At other times an appointment to view the memorial needs to be made through the sailing club as the building is not always open. 1992: THE BOARD WAS IN THE EX-COLLIERY BUILDING WHEN IT BECAME THE MINTO HOTEL AND THEN HUNTER'S LODGE. THE BOARD WAS THEN REMOVED BY THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION AT NEWBIGGIN.
