ADDITIONAL INSCRIPTION CARVED INTO THE THE FRONT FACE OF THE PLINTH. BRONZE WREATH IN RELIEF ON THE BASE OF THE FRONT FACE OF THE OBELISK AND BRONZE CROSS IN RELIEF AT THE TOP

- 1995: OBELISK WAS MOVED TO A TEMPORARY LOCATION AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE CAR PARK AS IT HAD BEEN DISMANTLED TO MAKE WAY FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE VE DAY ANNIVERSARY. PUBLIC OUTCRY MEANT IT WAS RE-ERECED HERE SO THE WREATHS COULD BE LAID. THE OBELISK WAS THEN PLACED A FEW YARDS FROM ITS ORIGINAL LOCATION ONCE THE IMPROVEMENTS WERE COMPLETE Feb 2007: Grade 11 listed
