- Description
- Tall obelisk, total height approx. 7.3 metres on square plinth set in small garden with iron railings. It stands on three stone steps which, in turn, are set on a step of concrete. The whole memorial is approached from the street up a small flight of steps. At the base of the obelisk is a plaque, tapering from 178 mm inches wide at top to 250 mm at bottom, and 300 mm deep, bearing the words "To Our Glorious Dead". On the front of the plinth is a plaque, 915 mm feet deep, 450 mm wide at the top and 600 mm inches wide at the bottom, which bears the dedication and names from 1914-18. On the riser of the step below is a third plaque, 600 mm x 250 mm, which bears the dedication to 1939-45. All the plaques are cast metal, with a very plain raised edge, and all the lettering raised in plain capitals.
