Description
LARGE OAK SHRINE IN TWO PARTS. TOP CENTRE FORMS A BACKGROUND TO A PIETA FIGURATIVE GROUP. FLANKING PANELS BEAR NAMES. LOWER HALF HAS FLUTED HALF HEXAGONAL COLUMNS. The dedication is raised in plain capital letters and painted gold on a plaque in the central panel. The top has a central panel which acts as background to a fine Pieta, or Mater Dolorosa, "Mother of Sorrows". Flanking this are two panels which bear the names of the dead inside smaller panels created by more fluted half-hexagonal columns. The names are raised and painted in gold in Roman capitals. Beneath the Pieta, the words of the Requiem are handwritten in gold Gothic script.
