History
2008: Repairs to the park and cemetery dividing wall led to the discovery of roman remains around and beneath the war memorial. The memorial was dismantled and stored to allow for excavation work to take place. It was then re-sited a short distance away. c1930: TWO GERMAN FIELD GUNS WERE ORIGINALLY SITED WITH MEMORIAL, BUT THESE WERE REMOVED and SOLD WITH THE PROCEEDS GOING TO THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION. See letter in The Ross Gazette 17 May 2001.
