- Description
- BRASS TABLET ON A WOODEN OAK BLOCK WITH CHAMFERED EDGES. THE INSCRIPTION IS INCISED OR ENGRAVED WITH RED AND BLACK INFILL, WITHIN AN INCISED RED LINE BORDER CROSSED AT CORNERS. THE BRASS PLATE IS SCREWED TO THE BACKING AND WALL AT THE FOUR CORNERS IN THE CENTRE OF THE CROSSED BORDERS. INSCRIPION IN BLACK ROMAN CAPITALS BUT CERTAIN LETTERS ARE LARGER THAN OTHERS AND IN RED. THE QUOTATION IN THE INSCRIPTION IS SEPARATED AT TOP AND BOTTOM FROM THE REST BY A DRAWN LINE 6 CM LONG. ARMS OF XII ROYAL LANCERS ABOVE THE INSCRIPTION.
