Description
Three stepped base surmounted by plinth, cenotaph, pediment and lion couchant. Names listed on plaques mounted on curved wall behind the memorial. Carved laurel wreath and pendant on narrow face to symbolise the immortality of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and justice. Carved shields with the Coats of Arms of Stretford and the County of Lancaster on the 3 and 9 o'clock faces. Standard lamps used to surmount the wall but and low railings used to enclose the area around the memorial but they have now gone. Lombardy poplars planted behind the wall.
